The X-Men actor is channelling his inner Steve McQueen. We could be looking at the new king of cool. It’s not uncommon for Hollywood actors who are passionate gearheads to become racing drivers. Patrick Dempsey has ambitions of becoming a full time racing driver having competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans among many other disciplines, while the legendary Steve McQueen used his real-life racing experience to produce the infamous 1971 Le Mans movie, a passion project which ultimately flopped. Michael Fassbender can now also be added to the growing list of Hollywood actors turned racing drivers. [...more]

The Lamborghini Urus Will Be A 650BHP Super SUV!

Posted on May 15, 2017

Take it to the track and then straight to the rally race... as long as you’re cool with putting dings on a six-figure car. Maurizio Reggiani is the head of Lamborghini’s research and development sector, and given the sorts of odd futuristic projects the Italian supercar marquee is adding to its portfolio lately, he’s the sort of man you want to listen to for a trip into the future of one of the most desirable brands on the planet. He recently sat down with Digital Trends to give the topic of the upcoming Urus a whirl and using the SUV as a beacon for Lamborghini’s future, it can be gathered that things will get juiced up. The BMW 8 Series Is Making A Comeback!

Posted on May 11, 2017

Looks like the Mercedes S-Class Coupe has a new rival. Rumors have been rife for years that BMW is planning to revive the legendary 8 Series grand-tourer after an 18-year hiatus, which remains popular with BMW aficionados despite only 31,000 models being built between 1989 and 1999. Evidence that BMW is gearing up to revive the hulking luxury coupe has been mounting. Earlier this year, the automaker silently killed off the 6-Series, and an 8 Series test mule was recently spotted being put through its paces at the Nurburgring, implying that an announcement is imminent. Who Would Like To See A Tesla Supercar? We Certainly Would..

Posted on May 8, 2017

We wouldn't mind if it looked something like this. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. For Tesla to maintain its image as a premium carmaker while delivering an affordable car in the shape of the Model 3, it should seriously consider building a halo car. Lexus did it with the LFA, Ford has done it with the GT and there’s no reason why Tesla couldn’t do something similar to this Model EXP concept, created by Spanish rendering artist Xabier Albizu. Elon Musk recently confirmed that a revamped Roadster is in the pipeline, albeit a few years away, and that it will set a new performance benchmark. [...more]

Ultra-Lightweight Porsche 911 Leichtbau To Sell For Half A Million At Auction!

Posted on May 1, 2017

It's no 911 R, but the 911 "lightweight construction" is as enticing as a piece of Porsche history can get. The task of the automobile and each of its individual subgenres has constantly been changing to adapt to new demands, but more recently the role of the car as an investment has become the norm and unfortunately, it seems as if the models that are the most fun to drive and that should be more prevalent on the road are the types that become garage queens. Thankfully, Silverstone Auctions’ May Sale gives you a chance to right this wrong when the 1993 Porsche 911 Turbo S Leichtbau goes to the auction block. [...more]

Hardcore Ferrari 488 To Revive The GTO Badge

Posted on April 26, 2017

You knew that Ferrari was never going to take coming onslaughts from Porsche and Mercedes without striking back. Even though Porsche hardly sells more cars than the AMG wing of Mercedes, sitting atop the German sports car throne can be a bit of an ordeal. Each year it seems that another automaker announces its own crack at the 911’s reign of terror, and though Mercedes and McLaren have been searching for a weak point in Porsche’s armor for years, it’s a marker of what the automaker has accomplished when Maranello begins to do the same. According to Autocar, that’s what Ferrari is doing. [...more]

Audi Debuts 2018 TT RS With 400-HP And Puts Every Cayman S Ability To Shame

Posted on April 5, 2017

It’s quicker, cheaper, more powerful, and sounds miles better than the four-banger in the Porsche corner. A gorgeous futuristic interior peeled straight out of our wildest iRobot fantasies and a rich blend of angular yet smooth lines of the current R8 may have made every critic of Audi’s feminine design approach a believer, but to most, the Mk2 generation TT was still too rounded to look the least bit tough. To some, it even echoed the design approach of the Volkswagen Beetle, but thankfully Audi remedied that with the more confident looking Mk3 released late in 2014. [...more]

Ferrari LaFerrari Smuggled Into South Africa Set To Be Crushed

Posted on March 30, 2017

This is a sad day for tifosi and Ferrari fans everywhere. You might want to read this one sitting down. As this gorgeous red LaFerrari you see here is destined for the crusher. According to Fin24, on a fateful day back in 2014, the owner attempted to bring the LaFerrari into South Africa. Inexplicably, he failed to cough up the cash for customs duty and VAT. So the Italian hypercar was held in a bonded warehouse where it has remained for the past three years waiting for the owner to pay the necessary fees for its release. [...more]

Audi Defends Lamborghini In Nurburgring Lap Time Controversy

Posted on March 25, 2017

Would Lamborghini have any incentive to fake the record Nurburgring lap time set by the Huracan Performante? The record Nurburgring lap time set by the Lamborghini Huracan Performante should have been a landmark moment for the manufacturer. Instead, it’s attracted controversy, as skeptics have accused Lamborghini of faking the 6:52.01 lap time. Some have analyzed the footage and claimed that the in-car and on-screen speedometers don’t match. Others are saying the footage has been sped up from 24fps to 25. James Glickenhaus has even suggested a new Nurburgring “Road Cup” to prevent dubious production car lap times. It's all a bit overblown. [...more]

Posted on March 20, 2017

Italdesign - Lamborghini's Iconic Design House

Posted on March 19, 2017

Italdesign is returning to its traditional business roots and the Zerouno, a £1.3m supercar revealed in Geneva last week, is proof. On arrival, you could be forgiven for thinking nothing at Italdesign has changed. True, there are more cars parked in the street, but that just means there are more employees, a given for a thriving company. But the two large studio buildings through which you usually enter Italdesign’s estate on the southern outskirts of Turin seem hardly to have altered, even though it’s nearly 50 years since the company’s famous founder, Giorgetto Giugiaro, decided to launch his own design business. Pagani Launches An Online Configurator For Huayra Roadster

Posted on March 18, 2017

All 100 units have already been sold, but why not give your imagination some fun? Before it was even unveiled, we knew we could count on Horacio Pagani to develop one of the most lust-worthy cars to grace our pupils in the form of the Huayra Roadster. And then there’s the fact that it’s a marvel of modern engineering, with the Roaster weighing less than its coupe counterpart thanks to clever engineering. Immaculate design comes standard, as it should for a car costing $2.4 million, but we’re even more happy about the online configurator that has just gone live on Pagani's website. [...more]

Have you heard the one about the electric Bentley? The Ferrari 812 Superfast Makes Geneva Debut In Fine Style

Posted on March 9, 2017

If this is the way Ferrari chooses to phase out its decades-long history and experience with the naturally aspirated V12 engine, then the new 812 Superfast is the ideal way of saying ‘goodbye.’ Making its live debut here at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the Ferrari 812 Superfast is an absolute stunner, its design a clear evolution of its predecessor, the F12berlinetta. But under the hood is perhaps where Ferrari’s magic is best shown: a 6.5-liter V12 that’s not only bigger, but more powerful than the 6.3-liter V12. [...more]
